eDonkey e Riaa: transazione da 30 milioni di dollari

La società MetaMachine, gestore della rete p2p eDonkey, pagherà a RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) ben 30 milioni di dollari a titolo di risarcimento danni per lo scambio illegale di files musicali tramite il ben noto client eDonkey.
La società ha già sospeso la distribuzione dei client finora utilizzati.
Nella Home Page del sito dedicato eDonkey.com appare, in inglese, il seguente messaggio:
The eDonkey2000 Network is no longer available.
If you steal music or movies, you are breaking the law.
Courts around the world — including the United States Supreme Court — have ruled that businesses and individuals can be prosecuted for illegal downloading.
You are not anonymous when you illegally download copyrighted material.
Your IP address is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and has been logged.
